Cultivating Change from Soil-to-Table

Food Freedom

Happy 4th of July!

In addition to celebrating our 241 years of independence from the British Empire, on this 4th of July, we encourage you to celebrate the emergence and accomplishments of the new food economy. We continue the fight for Food Freedom and our ever-growing independence from destructive, industrial, factory farming practices. We are pleased to report that Organic farming and the local food movement remain the fastest growing segment of the American food system. The rapidly growing popularity of organic, grass fed, and locally grown foods reflects our expanding consumer uprising against the industrial, agrochemical based, global food system.

We confront, head-on, the reality that the industrial food system is not sustainable - economically, socially or ecologically. We will continue to fight for the freedom of the people to be well nourished, through nutrient dense, toxic chemical and GMO free, locally raised, real foods and clean water. We fight for the freedom to save seeds, to grow our own food, to keep livestock, to access and store water, and to use safe medicinal alternatives.

As the Slow Food USA website states, "We believe that the food we eat should taste good; that it should be produced in a clean way that does not harm the environment, animal welfare or our health; that food producers should receive fair compensation for their work, and that all people should have access to good and clean food."

We will continue the fight, but today, we will celebrate our accomplishments.

Happy 4th,
